Scares People

This is the Bøsewicht. A ghost robot custom made together with my elder son.

This little monster ghost is what you find under your bed when you sleep. The only one that can handle this monster is the Monster Catcher*.

Ingredients

2 x 9g Micro Servo
1 x Arduino Uno R3
3 x LED warm white
1 x LED red
1 x Speaker
1 x Ultrasonic Sensor

Monster Catcher

What does it do?

Catches Monsters Under the Bed

This is the LMR robot for the today's Campus-Party Berlin. Its purpose in life is to help children if they are afraid of monsters in the night. The Monster Catcher stays under the bed and makes noises to catch the monsters...

The Monster Catcher is a collective work of Drakuni, Antonio, Isotope, TinHead, Frits, RobotFreak, Lumi and Francisco.

The Making

Here some impressions from the making.

Frits, Nils and Antonio elaborate on the ideas. It is important that it is a very easy-to-make robot that does not need rocket science software and hardware.

Vacuuminator

Primary image

What does it do?

Vacuums the floors, navigates through the room with an optimized algorithm. Pays attention to edges and corners to clean well.

Hey guys, its me again.
This is the third project I submit here.
Vacuuminator is a (obviously) vacuum cleaning robot. It is quite similar to a roomba. I have this problem about not buying robots if I can build one. As you would expect from a guy like me (and you) I don't clean much. I needed something to do that for me.

Therefore, I built vacuuminator (and made him clean the mess I've made while building it.)

Xylomatron

Primary image

What does it do?

Plays a game with you through an xylophone

Hi there LMR, here is another one of our projects, as promised. :)
This is Xylomatron. It is a robot that you can play a game similar to "Simon Says" but with a xylophone interface. Basically, it does play a note and expect you to repeat it, if you succeed it adds another note to the previous sequence and expect you to do the same. Therefore the game gets harder at each level, depending on your memory.
When you fail, it gets quite angry thinking "The puny human couldn't memorize X notes" (it does really trace it in fact :D)

Jeffrey The Quadruped

Primary image

What does it do?

It is a pet. It can stay on tables without falling, navigates around via IR sensor, interacts with people

Hey guys,
Just found out about LMR and wanted to share some of the robots we have made in past. (so, I will post 4-5 more projects soon)

Jeffrey The Quadruped is a quite small walker with 4 legs. It has printed circuit board with a custom arduino setup, using an Atmega328.
It has a Sharp IR Rangefinder attached on 2 servos and uses a simple rotational object tracking algorithm to let him create temporary low resolution visual maps. This way it can stay on a table, stay away from objects and even track your hands with a single sensor.

The Tank

Primary image

What does it do?

Avoid obstacles

This is the tank. One day, perhaps it'll earn itself a real name.

Being my first robot, it is of course a skid-steering obstacle avoider. Since I already had an Arduino and wanted to continue with it, I didn't follow the Start Here robot, but instead pretty much copied LarryBot. It is made of: a Tamiya 70097 twin-motor gearbox, a Tamiya 70100 track and wheel set, an Arduino Uno and an SN754410 H-bridge chip.

Starbot

Primary image

What does it do?

Shines toward Spectator

The Starbot is a custom robot made for one of my sons. It is a star that shines and rotates to where the spectator is.

My son found this wooden star-on-a-stick somewhere and played around with it. After a while he came to me and said it would be cool if this star would shine whenever somebody comes close to it.

Bam! Here we go. This is a perfect question for a geek dad. Of course we can! So this little kid and I elaborated a bit more and out came this robot named Starbot.

YA2WDNSOSBBALABMHAMF (Yet Another 2WD Not So Original Starter Bot But At Least Assembled By My Own Hands As My First) or B4short

Primary image

What does it do?

Navigate around via ultrasound avoiding obstacles

Well, finally I've started to assemble my first go at building an autonomous bot, nothing fancy, nothing original just something to learn the ropes. I'm going for a 2WD design that to me seems to be quite ubiquitous.

As of the moment (May, 17th 2012) basically I've only glued together a couple of DVDs (following generalgeek's sugestion) to use as base, and then also hot-glued a couple of DC motors and a 3rd non-motor wheel to it.

Component-wise I'm only waiting for a couple of transistors to build an H-bridge (as sugested on a Dan M's post).

oooooo spooky image

this  image was created by scanning a Sharpe ir distance sensor on tilt and pan servos controlled by an Arduino and rendered in Processing. the closer the object is the brighter the pixel is .the view is the same as my Egg bot assembly video, if you have had a look at that.

At this point you might be thinking , why is this posted as a robot?!

Rocket Brand Studios Tiny Wheels

Primary image

What does it do?

Autonomous

Drawing on the popularity of the Tiny Tank, I decided that some folks might want wheels instead. I give you, Little Wheels.

The Little Wheels Robot is a great little bot for beginners and experienced robot builders alike. Simple, well designed and cute as a button, it is just a gosh darn good little bot.
