Amazon knocks 21 percent off a GoPro Hero 10 Black bundle for today only

We saw GoPro's Hero 10 Black drop in price on Amazon earlier this month, but for Black Friday, you can get the action cam with a number of accessories for less. The bundle is $450, the same price as the camera alone was at the beginning of November, but this time you're getting the Hero 10 Black along with an extra battery, a battery charger and a camera sleeve with a lanyard. This is a good deal if you don't want to bother with a GoPro subscription — the company has its own bundles available for even less, but all of them include a one-year Go Pro subscription.

Buy Hero 10 Black bundle at Amazon - $450

The Hero 10 Black doesn't look much different from its predecessor, but it has GoPro's new GP2 processor, which makes significant improvements. Not only does it double speeds, but it also enables features like HyperSmooth 4.0, which stabilizes footage, tone mapping, noise reduction and a 5.3K maximum resolution at up to 60fps. It can also shoot in 4K at 120fps and 2.7K at 240fps. Like the previous model, the Hero 10 Black has a front screen to make it easier for you to shoot video of yourself, and it supports new horizon leveling option and faster navigation.

We knocked the Hero 10 Black for its higher price tag when compared to the Hero 9 Black, but more seriously, the battery life has taken a hit thanks in part to all of the new features the camera supports. In our testing, the Hero 10 Black lasted about one hour and 15 minutes when shooting video at 4K/30fps, but the previous model lasted a full half hour more than that. If you opt for this bundle, though, you'll get a second battery and that will come in handy if you're shooting tons of video in one sitting.

DJI's Mavic Mini drone combo pack is $200 off today only

DJI's Mavic Mini drone is arguably the best model for most people in the company's lineup purely because it's small, easy to take with you and fairly simple to fly. At $500, the Mavic Mini is expensive for a high-tech toy, but much more affordable that full-sized drones. But for today only, you can get the Mini in a combo pack for $200 off, bringing it down to $300. The pack includes the drone, the remote control, three batteries, three pairs of spare propellers, a number of cables and extra control sticks and a carrying bag.

Buy Mavic Mini combo pack at Amazon - $300

DJI is known for making impressive drones, and the Mavic Mini is no exception. One of the biggest hurdles of flying a drone is deciding to take it with you, and that can be a difficult decision when you have a massive flying machine to consider. But the Mavic Mini is small enough that it can really come with you anywhere without inducing much anxiety. When folded up, it's roughly the size of a soda can and weighs about the same as a large smartphone, making it light and fairly discrete.

It's also pretty easy to fly, and you can do so with either your smartphone or the included remote. It holds up to wind decently, and although it doesn't have obstacle avoidance like DJI's larger drones, it does have GPS and a downward-facing sensor that helps it hold position even when you don't have satellite reception. The Mini shoots video in 2.7K/30fps or 1080p/60fps and it supports Dronie, Rocket, Circule and Helix QuickShots, which are automatic moves that the drone can perform to get some cool footage in a short amount of time. There's no ActiveTrack on the Mini, which is a bummer, but it's to be expected that DJI would save some advanced features for its higher-end models.

Our biggest gripes with the Mavic Mini are the fewer smart modes at its disposal, along with the core camera features it's missing and a slightly flakey video stream over WiFi connectivity. Otherwise, it's a solid, compact drone that's a great options for those eager to get their hands on one of these gadgets without dropping too much money.

The 2021 Apple TV 4K is on sale for $160 right now

Streaming devices are pretty affordable nowadays, but there are some benefits to opting for a more expensive model like the Apple TV 4K. We consider it to be the best high-end streaming box, and right now it's on sale for $160, which is one of the better prices we've seen. Amazon has the device for $169, but an automatically applied coupon will knock the price down to $160 at checkout.

Buy Apple TV 4K at Amazon - $160

Apple modestly upgraded its set-top box this year with the biggest improvement being the new Siri remote. The previous remote that came with the Apple TV 4K was clunky to use, but this new model is a huge improvement. It's larger and has a touch-sensitive directional pad that makes it much easier to swipe and scroll between content on your screen. It's reminiscent of the iPod scrollwheel of yesteryear, and that's a good thing.

If you're familiar with the previous generation Apple TV 4K, you may not notice too much of a difference when it comes to performance. The new model has an A12 Bionic chip that helps the gadget run smoothly, and we appreciate its support for Dolby Vision at 60 fps, Dolby Atmos sound and AirPlay 3. This model even supports HomeKit, so you can ask Siri to show you things like video camera feeds and they'll pop up right on your TV screen. We also found Siri to be quite useful for executing entertainment commands like "show me Christmas movies" or "play the latest episode of Ted Lasso."

The biggest drawback to the Apple TV 4K is price — it's normally $180, so it's worthwhile to wait for the (rare) sales in which it drops even slightly lower than that. But it's by no means the only streaming box out there — we also like the Roku Ultra and, even though it's not technically a box, the latest Chromecast with Google TV is another solid option that also has an updated, handy remote.

Amazon one-day sale knocks up to 30 percent off storage from SanDisk and Lexar

Those looking for new portable drives, SD cards and other storage gadgets have a bunch of discounted items to choose from today. Amazon has a one-day sale that knocks up to 25 percent off drives from Western Digital and up to 30 percent off microSD cards, thumb drives and more from SanDisk, Lexar and other brands. While we'll likely see discounts tomorrow during Black Friday proper as well, most of the devices in these sales have lower prices for today only.

Some highlights in the drive sale are the SanDisk Extreme portable drive in 2TB, which is 60 percent off and down to $185, plus the Crucial X6 in 2TB and the SanDisk Ultra NAND SSD in 4TB, which are down to $143 and $300 respectively. The SanDisk Extreme portable drive is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and it's pretty durable thanks to its IP55-rated design with two-meter drop protection. It also has optional password protection, 256‐bit AES hardware encryption and up to 1,050 MB/s read and up to 1,000 MB/s write speed. Crucial's X6 is also quite compact, with read speeds up to 540 MB/s and a shock and vibration-proof design.

Either of those would make good portable drives for most people, while the SanDisk Ultra NAND SSD is better for anyone looking to upgrade their computer's internal storage. It supports sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 530 MB/s, and when half off like it is today, it's a great choice for PC gamers looking to add a speedy SSD to their setup.

Highlights in the other memory sale include a number of Nintendo Switch-compatible microSD cards and some Lexar Professional SD cards. You can grab an officially licensed 256GB SanDisk microSD card for the Switch for $37, or 31 percent off, but if you're looking for the most storage possible, we recommend Lexar's 1TB Play microSD card, which is down to a record low of $128. And photographers and videographers may want to pick up one of Lexar's Professional 2000x SD cards to add to their gear while the 64GB model is on sale for $60 and the 128GB card is down to $100.

Samsung's Galaxy Chromebook 2 drops to $399 ahead of Black Friday

As the Chromebook market has matured, a bunch of higher-end models have come out. Samsung's original Galaxy Chromebook was one of them, but the company realized that paying $1,000 for a Chrome OS machine was a hard sell for most. Enter the Galaxy Chromebook 2, Samsung's correction and a much better laptop with an easier-to-stomach starting price of $449. But now you can get the Galaxy Chromebook 2 for $50 less, or $399, which is a record low. That's for the base model with a Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but the Core i3 model is also on sale for $549 — $50 more than it's lowest price, but still a decent deal.

Buy Galaxy Chromebook 2 at Amazon - $399Buy Galaxy Chromebook 2 at Samsung - $399

Samsung prioritized the right things when developing the Galaxy Chromebook 2. The design is much the same as the original, with a relatively light 2.2-pound frame, a premium build and a fiery red color. The company ditched the lovely yet taxing 4K display from the previous version and opted for a 1080p QLED touchscreen which remains nicer than panels on most other Chromebooks. While the 4K display did a number on the original laptop's battery life, this QLED display isn't as bad. We managed to get about 12 hours of use on a single charge, and while we wish the battery life was a tad longer, it should get you through a work day.

The Galaxy Chromebook 2 has a convertible design, too, so you can use it in tablet mode or prop it up so it acts as a small TV for video streaming. It doesn't come with a stylus like some of Samsung's other laptops, but any Universal Stylus Initiative pen will work with it. If you're eyeing the Galaxy Chromebook 2 as a secondary or travel device, the base model with a Celeron processor may provide all the power you need. But hardcore Chrome OS fans who want to use this machine as their daily driver won't regret shelling out a bit more money for the Core i3 version.
