We saw a bunch of great deals for the first shopping event this year back in July, and now for October Prime Day, another swath of discounts has pop up. While buying a laptop from Amazon isn't as flexible as it is when you're buying one directly from the manufacturer, it's still a good way to get your hands on a new machine. You're mostly limited by the number of configurations Amazon has available at the time. Amazon's Prime Early Access Sale is coming next week and we've already started to see a number of preview deals pop up. Devices like the Echo Show 5, Fire TV Stick 4K Max and Kindle Paperwhite have been discounted ahead of the event, and we expect to see more deals on Amazon gadgets during the two-day event. You can also pick up either of Samsung's latestfoldables for hundreds of dollars less than usual, or Google's Pixel 6a for only $349. And if you're in need of a new robot vacuum, a handful of Roombas are on sale right now, too. Here are the best tech deals from this week that you can still get today.

There have been no shortage of AirPods Pro deals in the past, but the previous-generation models have been hovering at $180 for the past few months. Now, you can pick them up for $160, which is only about $10 more than their all-time-low price. While, yes, Apple put some decent upgrades into the second-generation earbuds that just came out, those will set you back at least $240 right now. If you're trying to stick to a budget, this is a good time to pick up the previous version — or the second-gen AirPods, which are back on sale and down to $90.

These AirPods Pro still have a lot going for them, despite the introduction of their predecessors. They have good sound quality and solid ANC, which will block out a lot of environmental noise around you. Their IPX4 water resistance makes them good workout companions, as they'll withstand sweat pretty well, and we like that they provide hands-free Siri access for when you need to set timers, make calls and do other things without pulling out your iPhone.

And, if you didn't already know, the AirPods Pro do work best with iPhones and other Apple devices. They'll quickly pair when you first unbox them, and you'll be able to switch between taking a call on your iPhone to listening to music on your MacBook fairly seamlessly. As for battery life, you'll get about five hours of use in one go, and with the included charging case, you'll get a total of 24 hours of listening time. Also, these AirPods Pro come with a MagSafe case, so you can wirelessly power them up if you have a compatible charger.

If you're looking to spend even less, the second-gen AirPods are a good option now that they're on sale for $90. We saw them briefly drop to $79 earlier this week, but that deal came and went within hours. This remains a good sale price for these buds, which provide decent sound quality, a good battery life and convenient Apple-ecosystem features like fast pairing and switching.

Google's Pixel event today delivered exactly what we expected: a couple of new smartphones and a brand new Pixel Watch. The previously teased Google Pixel 7 was officially debuted, and while it doesn't look dramatically different from its predecessor, it includes a number of important changes. Key among them is Google's new Tensor G2 chipset, which promises speedier performance, improved efficiency and more for both the Pixel 7 and its larger sibling, the Pixel 7 Pro. As for the Pixel Watch, it looks right at home next to the new smartphones and it takes a lot of health-and-fitness prowess from Googled-owned Fitbit. Here's how to pre-order the Pixel 7, the Pixel 7 Pro and the Pixel Watch.

Google Pixel 7

Google's Pixel 7 smartphone is available for pre-order today starting at $599. It comes in three colors — snow, obsidian and lemongrass — and it'll be widely available on October 14th.

The company's latest flagship doesn't look too different from last year's model, but the changes Google made are nothing to scoff at. The Pixel 7 features an always-on 6.3-inch FHD, 90Hz display made with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass Victus, plus an IP68-rated body made of recycled aluminum. It runs on Google's new Tensor G2 chipset, which promises better machine learning capabilities, increased efficiency and improved photography features like Night Sight. It'll also come with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

The cameras on the Pixel 7 have been updated to include a 10.8-megapixel front shooter, which is now the same as the front-facing camera on the higher-end Pixel 7 Pro. There's also a new feature called Guided Frame, which helps those with low vision take better selfies by using audio and haptic prompts. As for the rear array, that includes a 50MP wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Google promises improved Real Tone photography and low-light images, plus better video features like Cinematic Blur, 4K Cinematic Pan and 240fps slo-mo.

Google also promises five years of security updates for the Pixel 7, plus an "adaptive battery" feature that will let the handset last for over 24 hours. Extreme Battery Saver adds to that, allowing the phone to last up to 72 hours.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

As to be expected, the Pixel 7 Pro is an upgrade from the standard model in a few ways. It's larger, with an always-on 6.7-inch QHD+, 120Hz display and a body with the same IP68 durability level as the Pixel 7. It also runs on the new Tensor G2 chipset and it has an upgraded triple rear camera system that includes a 50MP wide camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 48MP telephoto shooter with a 5x optical zoom and support for up to 30x Super Res Zoom. Other internal specs include 12GB of RAM and a choice of 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of onboard storage.

The other difference between the Pixel 7 Pro and the standard model is that the 7 Pro has a slightly larger battery (5,000mAh) than the regular handset (4,355mAh), but both share the same battery life estimates. Both also support fast charging that provides 50 percent juice in just 30 minutes when using Google's 30W power adapter, which you can pick up separately.

Google Pixel Watch

The new Google Pixel Watch is available for pre-order today starting at $350 for the WiFi models and $400 for the WiFi + LTE models. It's available in three colors and will be widely available on October 14th.

Google's first smartwatch in the Pixel family takes a lot of design nods from its phones and health-tracking chops from Fitbit. The circular case has a nearly invisible bezel along with an always-on 320ppi AMOLED, slightly domed display. It has a 294mAh battery built in that Google claims will last for 24 hours before it needs a recharge, and the watch comes with a USB-C magnetic charging cable. The Pixel Watch runs on an Exynos 9110 SoC and has sensors including a heart rate monitor, GPS, accelerometer, altimeter, gyroscope and others built in.

Many of those sensors power the watch's health and fitness tracking abilities, all of which build upon Fitbit's expertise in that area (Google completed its purchase of Fitbit back in 2021). The Pixel Watch tracks daily activity and sleep, plus it has 40 workout modes and an ECG app for additional measurements. Those familiar with Fitbit will notice that the watch also supports metrics like Daily Readiness Score, Active Zone Minutes and more, plus it works with the paid service Fitbit Premium. Also, Google plans on bringing fall detection to the Pixel Watch in the coming months.

Those who have a robot vacuum on their gift list this year can pick up a few iRobot machines for less right now. Arguably the best for most people is the Roomba 694, which is 27 percent off at Amazon (which now owns iRobot) and down to only $199. While this model has dropped to $179 in the past, this is the best deal we've seen on it since June. Also discounted are the higher-end Roomba j7+ and Roomba s9+, which are going for $599 and $799, respectively.

The Roomba 694 topped our list of best budget robot vacuums because it combines all of the essential features you'd expect in one of these machines with a relatively slick design and an easy-to-use mobile app. It cleans both hard and carpeted floors well, and it'll run for about 90 minutes (depending on floor surfaces) before it automatically returns to its dock to recharge. Its three-stage cleaning system did a pretty good job sucking up dirt, debris and even pet hair, and it navigates around furniture well, too.

You can control the device using the physical buttons on it, but the iRobot app is where you'll have more customization options. In it, you can check on the status of the robot's current job, plus set cleaning schedules, manually send the robot home and more. And when you don't even want to lift a finger, you can use Alexa or the Google Assistant to control the machine. While the Roomba 694 doesn't have the bells and whistles of the brand's more expensive devices, it has all the necessities and will be easy for first-time users to figure out.

If you're looking to invest in something more powerful, or just know you'll need stronger suction power, either the Roomba j7+ or the s9+ would be great picks. The j7+ is the newer of the two, debuting last year, and it has advanced obstacle avoidance that should help it navigate around a robo-vac's worst enemy — pet poop. It also has 10x the suction power of a standard Roomba and smart mapping abilities, plus it comes with a clean base into which it automatically empties its bin after every job. The Roomba s9+ takes it even further with 40x the suction power, a more corner-friendly design, obstacle detection, smart mapping and an included clean base.
