Peacock will debut in the UK and Ireland on November 16th

Sky TV and NOW subscribers in the UK and Ireland will soon have access to many more shows and movies and no extra cost. Starting on November 16th, they'll be able to watch content from Peacock as part of the streaming service's soft launch in those countries. This is the first time Peacock will be officially available outside of the US (though some folks elsewhere surely found a VPN workaround).

Bringing Peacock to Sky makes perfect sense. Not only is it the pay TV market leader in the UK, Sky shares a parent company with NBCUniversal: Comcast. Peacock content will be available on Sky platforms in other countries in the coming months, including Germany, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.

NBCU hasn't confirmed whether Peacock will be available as a standalone service in Europe. For now, the content will be ad-supported on Sky. The library includes Peacock originals such as Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster reboots, Rutherford Falls and Vanderpump Rules. Upcoming original series include MacGruber, Bel-Air, Joe Exotic (working title), Ted and a new version of Battlestar Galactica.

Sky and NOW subscribers will find a ton of classic TV shows on the service too. They'll be able to watch the likes of The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, Heroes, Friday Night Lights, Top Chef and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. As for movies, they can watch flicks such as Children of Men,Hanna,Hannibal,Out of Sight, Pride & Prejudice,Scent of a Woman,A Simple Wish and United 93.

Peacock isn't the only streaming service with links to a US broadcaster that's moving into Europe. HBO Max debuted there last month, while Paramount+ is coming to Europe in 2022. The latter will be included with Sky Cinema subscriptions in the UK, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Switzerland.

The remastered GTA trilogy is available to buy on PC again

Three days after it pulled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition from sale on PC, Rockstar Games says players can once again buy the bundle on that platform. The publisher yanked the remastered collection from the Rockstar Games Launcher's store "to remove some data files that were unintentionally included in the new versions of these games."

The publisher apologized for the inconvenience and said it would "improve and update overall performance as we move forward." Many players have criticized the latest versions of GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas, and some have shared screenshots and videos of various glitches and bugs. They've also voiced their displeasure on Metacritic, where they've been review bombing the collection — the aggregate user score is currently below one out of 10 on every platform.

Soon after the trilogy was released last week, the Rockstar Games Launcher was taken offline for what the publisher says was maintenance reasons. That meant those who did buy the collection were unable to play its three games for over a day, while Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online were also out of commission until Rockstar restored service on Friday evening.

Take-Two buys 'OlliOlli World' developer Roll7

Take-Two Interactive, the owner of Rockstar Games and 2K, has added another studio to its roster. Roll7, the small team behind the OlliOlli skateboarding series, is joining the company's Private Division publishing label.

Private Division will release Roll7's next game, OlliOlli World, which was supposed to arrive by the end of the year but has now been delayed until the first quarter of 2022. It seems both sides found they worked well enough together to make their partnership a permanent one, with Roll7 becoming one of Private Division's in-house studios. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Roll7 is known for its flow state approach to games, the idea bring that players will become completely immersed in a game and focus entirely on it. The original OlliOlli was released in 2014 on PlayStation Vita, and Roll7 earned a BAFTA best sports game award for it the following year.

In OlliOlli World, you'll rack up points for nailing tricks while navigating each level. Roll7 opted for a hand-drawn art style this time around, following the pixel art design of the first two games in the series. The result is a gorgeous-looking title that I'm looking forward to checking out. OlliOlli World is coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Honda shows off the latest version of its 'Autonomous Work Vehicle'

At CES 2018, Honda revealed several companion mobility robot concepts. It's moving forward with at least one of them, an autonomous vehicle that can go off road. Honda and engineering company Black & Veatch have been putting the second-gen Autonomous Work Vehicle (AWV) through its paces at a solar panel construction site.

This was the first field test in which several AWVs were working together. The vehicles towed trailers and carried construction materials, water and other supplies across the 1,000-acre worksite. The AWV can carry a payload of up to 399kg (880 pounds) and tow a trailer with a total weight of 750kg (1,653 pounds).

In a video that shows off the AWVs, a Black & Veatch employee notes that it can take a while to travel across such a large site. So loading up the vehicles with materials and sending them to another location can make things more efficient and cut down on employees' travel time, freeing them up to work on other things.

Honda created a high-definition map of the site so operators could set start and end points for the AWVs. It says the vehicles stopped within centimeters of their destinations. Along with operating autonomously, the AWV can be remotely controlled.

The company claims the vehicle can run for up to eight hours on a single charge, even in a high-temperature environment. The AWV uses a number of sensors for navigation, including GPS, radar and LiDAR, as well as 3D cameras for remote monitoring. Honda says that even with a maximum payload capacity, the AWV has a range of up to 27.9 miles, depending on the use case.

The automaker is aiming to improve the performance and design of the AMV as it iterates on the prototype (it looks kinda cute as is). It might offer the ability to add attachments and tools as well. Honda hasn't revealed plans to release a commercial version of the AMV just yet, though.

Rockstar pulls the remastered GTA trilogy on PC

The PC version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition seems to have some serious issues at the minute. The bundle — a remastered collection of GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas arrived on Thursday. However, at the time of writing, the Rockstar Games website says "this title is currently unavailable in your country or region." Console players can still buy it on the Xbox, PlayStation and Switch digital stores.

Rockstar Games

According to Kotaku, those who bought the title on PC before it disappeared are unable to play it at the minute. Rockstar removed the older versions of the three games from PC storefronts before the collection arrived.

Adding to the publisher's woes, the Rockstar Launcher has been out of commission for around 24 hours "for maintenance" — not a great look when Rockstar just released a new collection of some of its most notable games. That means Rockstar's PC games like Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online are unavailable. The store, cloud services, downloads and authentication systems are also down.

"We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work on restoring services for the Rockstar Games Launcher and supported titles," Rockstar wrote on Twitter early Friday morning. Engadget has contacted Rockstar Games for comment.

Some fans have expressed disappointment at the quality of remasters, with screenshots of glitches and videos of bugs popping up. One player posted a video of a rainstorm in San Andreas that made it difficult to see anything around CJ.

'WandaVision' spinoff 'Agatha: House of Harkness' is coming to Disney+

Agatha Harkness is returning to Disney+. A WandaVision spinoff centering on the show's breakout character has been confirmed, with Kathryn Hahn reprising her role in Agatha: House of Harkness. Jac Schaeffer, the head writer of WandaVision, will take on that same position for the upcoming series, according to Variety

No other details have been confirmed, and it's not clear when the Marvel Cinematic Universe show will debut. For now, Disney says it's "coming soon." Rumors started swirling about the spinoff last month.

As part of Disney+ Day, the company announced a swathe of new shows and movies that are coming to the streaming service, including a whole bunch of Marvel shows. If you're anything like me, you're probably most looking forward to a continuation of the classic '90s X-Men animated series.

Meanwhile, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings landed on Disney+ today. It's one of 13 Marvel movies that are now available to stream in a large IMAX format.

Amazon adds clip sharing to the Prime Video app on iOS

The next time you're watching a show on Prime Video and there's a moment that leaves you crying, laughing or feeling wowed, you might be able to share a clip of it with your friends. Prime Video users in the US can now try a clip feature on iOS.

Perhaps due to rights issues, the feature is limited to select Amazon Original series for now — season one of The Boys, The Wilds, Invincible and Fairfax — with more shows and movies to follow. When you're watching one of those shows, you can select the Share a Clip option. The app will pause the video and create a 30-second clip of what you just watched. You can move the starting point of the clip and watch a preview before sharing it on social networks or in a message.

The feature could come in handy if you ever feel the need to explain the appeal of Hot Priest from Fleabag in the future. Maybe you'll eventually be able to share a clip of one of James Bond's narrow escapes if Amazon's MGM deal goes through too.

'Rainbow Six Extraction' will arrive on January 20th

Ubisoft announced in July that it was delaying Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction from its planned September 16th release date to sometime in January. The publisher has now narrowed down the timeframe: the co-op shooter will arrive on January 20th.

What's more, Ubisoft has reduced the price of the base game to $40 and the deluxe edition to $50. In addition, the publisher is including two Buddy Pass tokens with every copy. You'll be able to invite two friends to play with you for a 14-day trial period, though those who use a Buddy Pass won't have access to Assignments, the ranked Maelstrom Protocol mode or the in-game store.

The game will have cross-play, cross-progression and cross-save support, so players can team up with friends across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, PC and Ubisoft+. The Buddy Pass will work across all platforms.

Rainbow Six Extraction, which used to be known as Rainbow Six Quarantine before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, is based on a Rainbow Six Siege mode called Outbreak. Teams will take on waves of aliens that have invaded Earth, and players will be able to take on the guises of some Siege operators.

Patreon is building its own video hosting platform

Patreon has been moving toward becoming self-reliant for some time, and another big piece of the puzzle is falling into place. CEO Jack Conte has revealed the company is working on video hosting, as well as its own player.

"We’re building the horizontal architecture for any creator, no matter their medium, or no matter the upload format, to be able to build a business around their work," Conte told The Verge.

As things stand, creators who want to share videos with their patrons have to upload them to third-party services like YouTube or Vimeo, perhaps with certain privacy settings enabled. Alternatively, they can attach a video file to a post, but the file size is restricted to 200 MB.

There aren't any details on when Patron will roll out its video product. When it does, users will have more ways to keep all of their content natively on Patreon, and they won't necessarily have to deal with other platforms. Engadget has asked Patreon for more details, including whether this will pave the way for creators to host patron-only livestreams or if it will generate ad revenue from self-hosted videos.

Last year, Patreon teamed up with Acast to let creators offer patron-only podcasts across a number of platforms. Meanwhile, Conte has announced his own podcast, The Creator Economy, which debuts next Monday. He'll speak with people who are behind the tools that creators use.

MoviePass may return in 2022

Almost two years after MoviePass declared bankruptcy, it could be making a comeback. A New York City court granted cofounder Stacy Spikes ownership of the company, and Spikes hopes to bring back the service next year.

"We are thrilled to have it back and are exploring the possibility of relaunching soon," Spikes told Insider. "Our pursuit to reclaim the brand was encouraged by the continued interest from the moviegoing community. We believe, if done properly, theatrical subscription can play an instrumental role in lifting moviegoing attendance to new heights."

Spikes said he bid under $250,000 for the company, though the assets don't include customer data or email addresses. It remains to be seen whether Spikes will get a new version of MoviePass off the ground. For now, there's a placeholder site where people can sign up for updates.

Along with cofounder Hamet Watt, Spikes created MoviePass in 2011. The idea was fundamentally sound: for a monthly subscription, you could watch a certain number of movies in theaters each month. After buying MoviePass in 2017, HMNY introduced a new pricing plan that, for a time, let members see a movie a day for just $10 a month.

The popularity of MoviePass skyrocketed, but the revamped business model proved unsustainable. The company burned through hundreds of millions of dollars before collapsing. A documentary series charting the rise and implosion of MoviePass is in the works.

Regal Cinemas, AMC and Alamo Drafthouse are among the theater chains that rolled out their own subscription plans over the last few years, though Alamo's is on hold at the minute. It's unclear how MoviePass will exist alongside those and whether it will develop better relationships with theaters this time around.

Meanwhile, as Stacy-Marie Ishmael of Bloomberg noted, MoviePass is now once again a Black-owned company. If Spikes is able to revive it, MoviePass would become one of the more prominent Black-owned businesses in the US.
